Our Story
About Us
Adirondack Voices is the premier community chorus of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, serving Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties, under the musical leadership of Mr. Corey Cerullo, Mrs. Kathleen McCarty, and our wonderful accompanist, Mrs. Carol Ann Sussdorff.
Our goal at Adirondack Voices is to provide artistic vocal enrichment to singers of all ages and proficiency levels through regular rehearsals and performances. Adirondack Voices provides for musicians within Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties to come together and share in the creation of our most basic art form – singing. We strive to broaden our horizons as musicians, to create a variety of programs to meet the needs of our listeners and to unite members of our community in song.
Adirondack Voices started over 25+ years ago as a group called "Mastersingers" under the director of Mr. Thomas Booth. When Mr. Booth and his family relocated to New Jersey, the members voted to continue on as the community choral group. Mr. Booth took the name "Mastersingers" with him and the Board of Directors at the time then incorporated the "new" group as Adirondack Voices.
Adirondack Voices was incorporated in 1998. We are very pleased to have members of the original group that are still singing with us today. We have grown from an average of 30 singers per performance to an average of 90+ singers per in-person performance. Our members have ranged in age from 14 yrs - 93 yrs: singing and working together to form friendships as they create wonderful memories and music. A few years ago our board voted to have 2 directors which created more opportunities for our group to grow and expand our repertoire, including our auditioned member “Adirondack A cappella” ensemble.
We are a non-auditioned mixed chorus of high school students, college students and adults who come together once a week for musical enrichment and camaraderie. Our volunteer musicians take the task of learning, rehearsing and performing a body of music to be presented to a broad-based audience from the tri-county area twice a year. NEW MEMBERS are always welcome!
Adirondack Voices is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, and, as such, it is a continuous balancing act between income and expenses. We have been blessed to have many generous community and audience members support our group. If you feel so moved, a tax deductible donation is always helpful and greatly appreciated.
